SEO – Finding the right Domain Name

We are talking about trust right now, so let‘s talk about what domain names work best for SEO. It is a question that comes up all the time. Should I get the .com name? Should I use dashes? What should I do?

The truth is that, unfortunately, a lot of the good .com names are gone. I will give you my tip on this. Let‘s say you have a search term you are going for and you can get hold of the direct -on.com domain name.

For instance, you are doing DogTraining.com. If you are in the dog training business and you can get that name, you would have an incredible advantage over any of your competitors. The direct-on term, the .com, is by far the best domain name you can have, if you are going for a particular search term. A lot of those are not available. I will tell you this. Sometimes you can go to site like Sedo.com,, FabulousDomains.com, BuyDomains.com, and you can sometimes find that your direct-on domain name may be for sale. If you can afford it, I would say you should buy it.

If you are really serious about this, if you are planning on making it a real business endeavor, and if it is important to your business, try to buy the dead-on domain. I have paid as much as $25,000 for a dead-on domain before and I found it to be worthwhile. Basically, if you have the dead-on domain

name of a search term and it is the .com, the number one position is yours to lose. In other words, if you do everything right, you will almost certainly rank number one.
