What Is Optimizely
In Optimizely, website administrators are able to design and do simple A/B testing experiments without the need of any background on HTML, CSS or even Javascript. And getting started in Optimizely is very much easy! All you need to do is just enter the URL that you want to test into its homepage. Read on in order to get more information regarding this matter.
Make an Experiment
To begin with, enter the URL that you want to test in the input field which can be found in the Optimizely homepage and then click ‘Test It Out’ button. Once you clicked that button, this will lead you to the Optimizely visual editor. Here in this visual editor, at the top of the page, you’ll then see controls and manager experiments and below, is where the real action really happens. And you move your mouse over the different parts of the page, a blue rectangle shows up and that blue rectangle indicates those parts of the page where the experiments can be made. In addition to that, you can also change the captions on those rectangles and change it into something else. Say for example, in the intuit.com which is mentioned in the video, instead of saying ‘Accept Credit Cards Everywhere’, it can be changed into ‘It’s not for squares.’ And in order to this, all you need to do is click that headline and you will then see several options on how it changes. Next, click Edit Elements, Edit Texts and finally change the caption. After that, you will immediately see that the captions on the website are changed. And in case you want to see the previous preview of the website, just click the Original tab in order to see what it looks like in the original page.
Starting An Experiment
All you need to do now to implement Optimizely is to do a one – time Copy and Paste of a single line of code. Once this line of code is on your website, you can never change it since it’s a one – time implementation. This line of code is found in the dialog box when you click the ‘Implementation’ link which can be found at the upper right portion of the homepage while you’re logged on to Optimizely. And once you implemented that line of code, you can then start the experiment by just clicking the ‘Start Experiment’ tab which can be found at the upper right portion of the Optimizely visual editor.
Changing the Image and Texts
In Optimizely, the changing of images is done very easily. All you need to do is click the image that you’ll need to change, choose Elements, Change Image and you can then select a new image which can be found on your desktop. After that, you will see that the new image is now automatically inserted into the image from your desktop and directly uploaded to the website. And when it comes to the texts, if the texts are very hard to read, click it again, choose ‘Move and Resize’ and then drag it into your desired location. Choose again the Edit Elements and then Edit Text. And if the texts are dark in color, light up the texts by choosing a lighter color in the color scheme. After that, implement the page by doing a single one – time Copy and Page of the code and it will then change.
